Invisalign: The Adult Solution For Crooked Teeth

Invisalign

You would have heard that the best time to seek orthodontic treatment is during adolescence, which is true. By that age, your baby teeth have fallen out, your teeth can be shifted without falling out and your new, perfectly aligned smile can be made permanent with the help of retainers after initial orthodontic treatment.

Braces were considered the ultimate solution for teeth alignment for the longest time but self-conscious adults are reluctant about wearing them – which is where Invisalign comes in.

With Invisalign alignment, adults with crooked teeth can have the perfect smile they’ve always wanted.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign

Invisalign too is a system of braces but unlike regular braces, Invisalign structures are barely visible. According to studies, Invisalign treatment is almost as effective as braces for crooked teeth. However, braces are still the better option for treating more complicated dental problems such as back-biting, cross-bites and bridgework.

Patients are not required to come in for monthly visits for Invisalign treatment the way they are for braces. Each patient is given a series of braces which accommodates for the alterations in their mouths.

The braces are created after taking an impression of your mouth. They are made to comfortably fit around each tooth; this way the soreness of the gum is minimized and there is less pain as the teeth shift.

Benefits of Invisalign

It’s invisible: Invisalign’s greatest benefit is that it can barely be seen, perfect for self-conscious adults.

It’s removable: People with braces are told to avoid sticky and chewy foods since they can potentially damage their braces. With Invisalign, you can eat whatever you want since they can be removed easily.

It’s easier to clean: It takes a good 20 minutes to brush around each bracket when you have braces. Since Invisalign is removable, you can simply take it out and brush it.

Considering getting Invisalign?

You will need to consult an orthodontist before deciding that Invisalign is right for you. An orthodontist will use a variety of screening procedures such as X-rays, dental casts and photos to determine if the Invisalign is in fact the best way forward. They may suggest alternative orthodontic treatments for more complex problems.
